“I love to make women look and feel beautiful”
I (the Wedding Lady) first met Christine thirty years ago when I was promoting a new magazine and she had agreed to be featured showcasing her exclusive Bridal Wear on the cover and inside the magazine.
We have remained friends ever since and have worked together on fashion shows and many promotions. I have seen her become so very famous worldwide, but stay humble and the lovely person she was all those years ago. Christine still lights up when she talks about a creative new piece or collection, and loves working with luxury fabrics and beautiful laces and creating must haves for the woman who loves the very finest in silk lingerie. I love to see my bride’s expressions when they first experience trying on a piece of Christine Lingerie. Christine is always available to chat and find the just right selection and fit for their special trousseau.
It all started when she used to tidy up her grandmother’s drawers as a young child. Christine told me that she loved anything lace and was intrigued by the textures of silk and other fabrics and buttons. Little did Christine know that her dreams of exquisite lace and luxurious silks would lead to the extremely sought after lingerie and loungewear designer she is today.
Christine began making lingerie, and then that led into creating antique and lace blouses and then she added luminous and silhouette skirts to the blouses creating one of a kind dream wedding gowns with fabulous handmade roses and lace.
I can always tell a Christine piece because of the beautiful styling, attention to the smallest detail and above all the silk. The colours are like an artist’s pallet with soft pastels, as well as the deep rich jewel tones. As per Christine’s philosophy “….that the prints are exclusive, the silks are the softest, the lace is the finest and the most delicate, so that each piece is a creation of beauty. ” The designs blend classic and vintage-inspired cuts and styles. You can now find street-worthy loungewear and kimonos in her collection. “You put that on with your jeans and t-shirt, and it looks fabulous. It’s a whole look.”
I can remember going to Christine’s Designer Studio on Powell Street, the day before my bride’s wedding in order to pick up a pair of silk pajamas for her to lounge in prior to getting dressed on the wedding day. Oprah Winfrey of course wore them on one of her O Magazine covers. Not to mention other celebrities, Catherine Zeta Jones, Gwyneth Paltrow, Diana Krall, Christina Hendricks and Katie Homes, just to name a few.
Another memory is meeting with Christine in her Design Studio to discuss a surprise lingerie tea I was arranging for one of my clients in Christine’s actual show room. I saw Christine putting photos of her latest designs in silk envelopes, hand made by her amazing team of sewers. Christine was sending these out to Neiman Marcus, Holts etc…. Just another Christine touch!
I treasure the Christine pieces I have collected over the years. One of my favorite pieces is a reversible black and white shawl that Christine presented to me and similar ones to all the ladies at a luncheon I hosted one snowy day in Vancouver.
Thank you dear Christine for the lovely memories we share and I look forward to creating more with you.
